YOUNG TRIO PENCILLED FOR CREWE CLASH

Sunderland u23 coach Elliott Dickman has confirmed that three important members of the team were part of the travelling squad for the League One clash with Crewe Alexandra. Dickman made this known in his post-match reaction after his youthful u-23 team lost to Newcastle United on Monday night. The Black Cats u-23 team suffered a 2-1 defeat in the Northeast Derby meeting with Newcastle United.

The three important players who missed the Newcastle United game are Ollie Younger, Stephen Wearne, and Will Harris. The three players travelled with the senior group for their league clash with Crewe Alexandra. Harris and Wearne have been very influential for the Sunderland u23s this season and they would be hoping to play a part in the league clash with Crewe Alexandra.

Dickman watched as his young Sunderland u23 team took the lead five minutes from the half-time break. Tyrese Dyce was the recipient of the goal which gave the Black Cats an advantage at the break. Newcastle United turned the game on its head with two goals in the second half as they secured a 2-1 win over their Northeast rivals. Jay Turner-Cooke and Adam Wilson found the back of the net for the Magpies.

Crewe Alexandra have struggled this season and they are second from bottom ahead of the visit of Sunderland who are on the right path in their quest to win promotion to the English Championship at the end of this season. The Black Cats were impressive at the weekend as they came from behind to beat hostsGillingham. As things stand on the League One standings, Sunderland are in fourth position and they are just a point off league leaders Plymouth Argyle who have played two games more. Ahead of the Crewe Alexandra game, Elliot Emberton is suspended, while there are doubts over Aiden McGeady (ankle), Lynden Gooch (foot), and Leon Dajaku (thigh).
