ARTELL: PLAYERS WILL BE GIVEN THE CHRISTMAS DAY OFF THEY DESERVE

 

David Artell, the head coach of Crewe Alexandra has insisted that he will be allowing all of his players to take the Christmas day off because they have earned it. The players have been busy recently having been playing three games every single week continuously for ten whole weeks.


The team also recently enjoyed a mid-week without any match for the first time in a while and they have decided they will use the opportunity to train until when they go home to spend a Christmas day off with their families and loved ones. The day after Christmas, Boxing Day, they will welcome Fleetwood Town in a crunch tie at home.

CREWE EXTEND UNBEATEN RUN WITH WIN

 

Crewe Alexandra are one of the form teams in the English League One after they took their unbeaten run to four games with the win over Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night. Crewe Alexandra welcomed Plymouth Argyle to Gresty Road in one of the week eighteen fixtures in the third level of club football on the English soil.

Crewe had put their three-game unbeaten run on the line against Plymouth Argyle and they were able to increase it to four matches following the 2-1 win over their opponents. CREWE EXTEND UNBEATEN RUN WITH WIN

Kirk gave Crewe Alexandra the lead midway into the first half of the encounter before Dale added a second goal two minutes from the end of the first half. Young Welsh forward Luke Jephcott came on for defender Kelland Watts at the start of the second half and he was responsible for the lone goal for Plymouth Argyle. His goal came five minutes from time to setup a frenetic finish but hosts Crewe Alexandra were able to withstand the late onslaught to record three maximum points. EFL TROPHY: CREWE SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT

 

League One newcomers Crewe Alexandra have suffered their first defeat in the EFL Trophy this season after they lost a thrilling clash with Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night. The two League One teams shared a seven-goal thriller with Crewe Alexandra ending on the wrong side of the outcome.


The 4-3 win for Shrewsbury Town ensured that The Shrews finished as group winners ahead of Crewe Alexandra in Group C of the Northern Section in the 2020/21 EFL Trophy. Both Shrewsbury Town and Crewe Alexandra have qualified for the next stage (round of 32) after winning their first two games in the group.

ALEX EYE REUNION WITH FORMER CAPTAIN

 

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has revealed that Luke Murphy will be put into consideration when it’s time for the club to find a new midfielder. The former club captain was in action on Tuesday nights friendly away at Nantwich. He replaced Tom Lowery for the final 30 minutes of the match.


Murphy, 30, is without a club following his release from Bolton Wanderers last season. Murphy, who is now a free agent has been training with his former side in preparation for the new season.

Many clubs have produced young stars for the big clubs in the Premier League. The big clubs are known to prey on the young talent from clubs in lower divisions. Some of the talents go on to reach their peak while others never lived up to their expectations.

Here we take a look at young players who came through the academy of Crewe Alexander.

Billy Jones

He was ​scouted and signed by Crewe manager Dario Gradi in 2003. Billy Jones was just 16 when he signed his first professional contract. He completed his debut for the club. In that season he won the Goal of the Season and younger Player of the Year award. Not a bad way to introduce yourself. He later played for West Brom and Sunderland.
