Crewe Alexandra go into the weekend’s match against Scunthorpe United looking to get away from the bottom of the table before Christmas.
The team has been on a wretched run of form since the start of the season. Their last victory in the league came towards the end of October. Since then, Steven Davies has been unable to get anything other than draws and defeats from his team.
He, however, is happy with the fact that he has a fully fit squad at his disposal for the tough match against Scunthorpe. Ryan Colclough is the only player who will not be available from the Crewe Alexandra squad for this match.
The manager has also confirmed that the team appears to play well when they are lined up in a 3-5-2 formation for the away matches. The return of players like Ajose does allow the team to be set up in a 4-4-2 formation, but it appears that Crewe will be looking to pack the midfield against Scunthorpe. This is especially important given that their opposition have been going through an excellent run of form of late. Scunthorpe have not been defeated in the league since the 1-0 close loss against Notts County in October.
“Apart from Ryan Colclough, Steve Davis should have a fully fit squad to choose from which is great and should ensure it will be the strongest squad we have had available all season. Since Ajose and Uche have arrived there has been a lot of talk from fans about reverting back to a 4-4-2formation and while I think this may suit us at home, the 3-5-2 should work for better for us away from home. I would stick with Uche and Ajose up front which means Lauri Dalla Valle will have to make do with a place on the bench,” said Crewe.
