Aberdeen manager Craig Brown has said that they are not interested in the possibility of bringing free-agent and former Crewe Alexandra winger Byron Moore. The winger is out of contract after having been released by the club in the summer.
Initial transfer reports suggested that Aberdeen would be interested in making a move for the winger, but the manager has said that he is a player that is not on the watch list of the club at the moment, even though he has Premier League experience from playing for Chelsea in the past. It is the news that will be greeted with cheers from arch rivals Hibernian, who are also thought to be interested in Byron Moore’s signature.
It is thought that Craig Brown would shift his interest towards securing the services of the 24-year-old Inverness player Caledonian Thistle rather than sign the Crewe Alexandra youth academy product. The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the hot properties in Scottish football right now, with a number of Scottish clubs leading the chase.
Hibernian now have moved in front of the queue to secure his signature. Craig Brown has confirmed that he is not looking at Byron Moore, but he would be interested in making additional signings before the end of the transfer window.
“Byron Moore is a new name to me. We have done our best to get Hayes, and it is our understanding he will join us after his summer break,” said Craig Brown in response to the transfer speculation surrounding Byron Moore. We have identified where we need to strengthen. We are speaking to players of the quality we want to improve the team. There’s been a lot of e-mails and phone calls, but that’s as much as I would like to say at this stage,” said the Hibernian boss Fenlon. It is still possible that Byron Moore might stay at Crewe Alexandra.
Crewe team-mate Nick Powell has already moved on to Man Utd.
